All over the world, people have to live with the consequences of war, conflict and climate change. They have to make choices every day. Choices they are forced to make due to factors beyond the individual's control. The number of refugees and internally displaced has never been higher in the world than it is right now. 110 million people, according to the UN, have to leave their lives behind and travel with little luggage. Still, these are the people who carry the most baggage throughout the rest of their lives.
We are inspired by these strong individuals. 50% of all refugees in the world are women and their daughters. We are inspired by the courage, by the determination and by the perseverance shown by these women and daughters on their journey with hope for a better future.
Only because of the golden ticket we drew the day we were born, we have what many people in our world do not have. We have an opportunity. An opportunity to choose. And that's something you shouldn't take for granted, and never forget. We want to use this opportunity we have to carry out an expedition that can help promote those who inspire us. To focus on something bigger than us, and much more important than two idiots from Norway skiing to the South Pole.
Therefore, we hope that together with the refugee organization A Drop in the Ocean, we will be able to shed light on the matter, and start conversations about the topic. Because it is only in that way that we can together see and create the changes that are necessary.
